Sarah & Matt ♡ Christ Church Dore, The Maynard Wedding, Peak District

A look at Sarah & Matt’s Chris Church Dore & The Maynard Arms wedding in Sheffield.

The Sheffield wedding of Sarah & Matt began on an unusually cold morning in the middle of March (a season that was supposed to be spring!) Bridal prep began at The Maynard Arms in Grindleford, before moving onto the ceremony at Christ Church in Dore.

Sarah and her 2 bridesmaids started the day at the bridal suite in the Maynard Arms – a traditional looking Yorkshire countryside hotel, with the most stunning backdrop overlooking the Peak District. Sarah & Matt chose this venue as it was pretty local to them and could accommodate for their large wedding party.

Sarah wore a gorgeous fitted white gown from Celebrating Curves, finishing off the look with a veil and a few white flowers pinned into the back of her hair, while her bridesmaids wore beautiful, floor-length royal blue dresses. As the vintage wedding car came to pick up the bridal party, Matt was already at Christ Church in Dore, greeting the guests. By this point snow was really coming down hard, and had created a white blanket across the entire grounds of the church. Guests huddled up inside the warm church, and awaited the bride-to-be. Who knew that the chilly morning weather would turn into a fully blown snow storm at this Sheffield wedding 😆❄.

The ceremony was lovely, and included a few hymns, readings from the vicar and performances by the local choir. Afterwards, everyone made their way back to The Maynard Arms, for drinks and nibbles. Once the snowfall had calmed down slightly we went outside for a bunch of group photos. The bride & groom shoot had the most beautiful backdrop of the snow covered Peak District. I don’t think anybody anticipated this winter wonderland, but it was absolutely stunning.

Shortly after, everyone made their way up to the wedding breakfast room and sat down for their hot meals. Following up were the speeches, and let me tell you, Sarah’s Dad’s was a HOOT. He had the whole room laughing, and Matt’s best man did just the same. The guests played a fun game, where everyone pops a pound into a pot and writes their guess as to how long the duration of the speeches will be. The person who guesses the closest time wins! 💰

The rest of the evening had a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere, as guests enjoyed drinks in the toasty warm pub, complete with a crackling fireplace, as the snow blizzard continued to swirl outside ❄. Everyone later joined Sarah & Matt in the reception room as they watched the newlyweds cut their wedding cake and enjoy their first dance to Luther Van Dross’ ‘Never too much’ (one of Sarah’s favourites!), before joining in themselves. A wonderful way to tie such a lovely day together.
