Jess & Luke ♡ Sheffield General Cemetery Wedding

A look at Jess & Luke’s stunning Sheffield General Cemetery wedding.

○ What’s your love story?

Our eyes met across a crowded Internet in 2017. We clicked together very quickly. Before I even met him, I knew I had either found my best friend or the love of my life; it didn’t occur to me that I might have actually found *both*. We got engaged at a Halloween party in 2022, giving us two years to plan (which turned out to be very necessary!)

○ Why did you choose Sheffield General Cemetery as your wedding venue?

We wanted a venue in Sheffield that could host both the legal ceremony and the reception, with massive bonus points if it was a little unconventional or memorable. The Samuel Worth Chapel fits the bill absolutely perfectly – it’s just the right size for our celebration, set in a beautiful woodland graveyard, filled with history and art and gothic monuments to eternal love. It feels perfect for us!

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

We’ve arrived at a sort of “vintage early-autumn gothic” vibe. I wanted to feature the colours of the season and create a sense of bringing the outside autumn *into* the chapel; the venue itself provides the gothic drama and sense of history, so I’m hoping to reflect that somewhat in the theme.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

I’m walking down the aisle to “Isn’t it Love?” by Estelle. It’s from a soundtrack to a TV show we watched together early in our relationship (Steven Universe) – it’s short, sweet, uplifting, romantic, and her voice is perfect! Luke doesn’t know about it yet and I’m taking bets on whether it will make him cry (I hope so).

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Sharing the love with everyone!

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Relaxed, fun, uplifting.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

I love being able to see all the happy/funny/sweet little moments captured unguardedly and sincerely!

○ Would you recommend having an engagement photoshoot?

Yes! It was so useful for putting us both at ease. I’m not used to getting my photo taken, and without the engagement shoot I know I would have been worried about how the photos would turn out the entire wedding day. It was also lovely getting to meet Sasha ahead of the day and establish a rapport. I was worried posing would feel unnatural and awkward, but she made us really comfortable – plus, the photos came out great, and it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon!

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Soon the whole day will just be a beautiful memory. Keep perspective, don’t over-stress, remember what’s important to you!
