○ What’s your love story?

During a mostly virtual Covid lockdown training course, Reuben and Olivia first bonded over Reuben’s northern Irish accent and the phrase “how now brown cow” but quickly found so much more in common. Laughing together at their over-enthusiastic trainer, singing along to Disney songs, and fighting injustice together. But, it was one small quote from SpongeBob SquarePants that showed Reuben and Olivia their paths were deeply connected. Since that moment, Reuben and Olivia have built a home, a life and a family that is filled with love, joy, and respect. Their wedding day is a celebration of the strength they have interwoven in their souls and the souls of their family.

○ Why did you choose York Register Office as your wedding venue?

Mainly because it was cheap and beautiful but also because we wanted to have a wedding that celebrated our relationship and not how much money was spent.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Simple elegence.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Aisle is “if we hold on together” by Diana Ross which is the song on the closing credits of the Land Before Time movie which, growing up, was Olivia’s (and her families) favourite film. We will be leaving to “when you know you know” by Tim & the glory boys which was Reuben and Olivia’s first emotional connection song. We’re not having a first dance but, as I said earlier, “island song” from adventure time will be a nice moment together.

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Saying I do. Dancing with our daughter.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Simple. Magical. Ours.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

It sums up the above! It focuses on the emotion and the connection between the people instead of the drama of the photoshoot.

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

It doesn’t have to cost the world, people are going to complain even if you spent tens of thousands so do it how you want to do it for the budget you are comfortable with. For all the people pleasers out there, this is your one chance to see what life would be like if you stood up for what you wanted and did what you wanted and wore, said, and ate what you wanted! You can go back to people pleasing another day!
