Ian & Avril ♡ Papplewick Pumping Station & Inkersall Grange Farm, Nottingham Wedding

A look at Ian & Avril’s lovely Papplewick Pumping Station & Inkersall Grange Farm wedding.

Ian and Avril’s got married in October 2017 at a pretty unique and alternative wedding venue, Papplewick Pumping Station in Nottingham.

If you’re looking for a seriously different place to get hitched, look no further than this Victorian industrial heritage attraction. The water works is one of Britain’s finest, and is the only one that has been preserved to working order in the area. It was a real pleasure to take photographs here, with all the gleaming machinery, high ceilings and stained glass windows.

Guests arrived in a lovely old-school single-decker bus, and Avril came soon after in her stunning lacy white dress from Marrime Bridalwear. Her hair was plaited, with curls cascading around her shoulders, and she carried a bright red and orange autumnal bouquet to match the colours of the season. I also loved Ian’s shirt and his button hole, which looked like heather bound with twine.

After the ceremony, I took pictures of the confetti throw as the newlyweds walked down the station stairs. We then gathered to take some group shots, as well as photos of the couple strolling in the beautiful grounds. It was a chilly day, but dry and bright, so it was lovely to have a little walk together while snapping away some candid moments.

Everyone then moved on to Inkersall Grange Farm, and Ian & Avril arrived in their vintage car. It’s a great choice for a reception if you’re having a rustic, boho-type wedding. I loved the fairy lights around the tipi, the glitter ball and wooden signage, as well as the giant Jenga that the kids (and a handful of adults) were playing with.

For a little while, people mingled, enjoyed a few drinks and messed around with the photobooth (HANDMADE by Avril’s talented dad – it was awesome, it even had a little birdy that popped up for guests to smile at). Then, after the wedding breakfast, there were speeches and dancing. In fact, my favourite photos are probably the ones of everyone laughing and getting merry in the evening. The funniest are of the bride and her bridesmaids trying to recreate a photo from the film, ‘Bridesmaids’! See if you can spot it.

If I were to steal one idea from this wedding, it’d probably be the cake, which was wonderful. A blend of both of their individual faves – Harry Potter & Star Wars. Also, Ian and Avril didn’t know about the coloured layers inside until they cut into it, so it was fun to see their reactions.

A wonderful day was had by all. Wishing Avril & Ian a lifetime of happiness together.
