A look at Ben & Amelia’s gorgeous Derby Cathedral wedding followed by the Cathedral Quarter.

As soon as the ceremony started, nobody even saw her, but she took the most amazing shots of the ceremony, the venue, and our guests. Ben and Amelia’s classic white wedding took place at Derby Cathedral in August 2017. They wanted natural wedding photography for the day to ‘capture all those unexpected moments that might otherwise get forgotten’.

Bridal prep began in the morning, and Amelia looked stunning in a white La Belle Boutique gown and veil. Her gorgeous red hair was tied back in an elegant do. The groom and groomsmen’s suits were from Brigdens in Derby. They finished the look with blue & white flower buttonholes that matched the bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly.

The ceremony was held at Derby Cathedral, which is probably the most beautiful cathedral I’ve ever been to in the UK. The white interior was stunning, I actually gasped when I walked in. My favourite memory of the wedding was the amazing sound of the choir with their mesmerising voices – made up of Ben & Amelia’s friends. It was a perfect moment.

Amelia walked down the aisle to Prince of Denmark’s March, which was Ben’s choice. There were also two readings from the New Testament on the subject of love (of course!). And, after the happy couple said their ‘I dos’, it was time for a few group photos and confetti on the green. Shortly after everyone made their way over to the Cathedral Quarter for drinks. I love the photos of Ben & Amelia walking to the evening venue hand in hand, they look perfect.

The Cathedral Quarter Hotel had been decorated in the theme of music, as Ben and Amelia both have musical backgrounds. There were flowers made of sheet music on the tables and cake, and table numbers adorned with musical illustrations. The room looked so pretty, elegant and romantic, befitting of the day.

After the meal were the speeches. They were lovely, especially Ben’s, which was particularly heartfelt (even though he told me he was super nervous, you couldn’t tell as he nailed it!). Later Ben & Amelia cut the cake and had their first dance to ‘When you Wish Upon a Star’ from Pinocchio, as they both love Disney films. An awesome idea from the wedding was the ice cream cart they hired for the evening from The Vintage Hire. Everyone got stuck in! (I had the coconut one and it was sooooo yum!)

Alongside my wedding dress, Sasha was the best find from one of our many trips to wedding fairs! We were looking for a natural photographer, who would capture our moments perfectly. Sasha did that… and so much more.
We were a little apprehensive about having a camera in our faces the whole day, so opted to have an engagement shoot, which was a really great way to get to know Sasha. She is so lovely and sweet that there was no awkwardness, and when we received the photos back, we knew we had chosen the right photographer.
