Aimee & Daniel ♡ Blencowe Hall Wedding, Lake District

Introducing Aimee & Dan’s gorgeous, sunny wedding at Cumbria’s Blencowe Hall…

“Sasha captured our day perfectly and we have received so many comments from family and friends about how friendly she was and how she blended into the background (in a good way!). She was exactly the type of photographer we wanted to capture our day and meant that we received beautiful candid photos of both us and our guests. The photos have been viewed many times already by not only us but also our families and friends and we will fondly look back at them in the years to come as they are a perfect recollection of our day.”

○ What’s your love story?

We met at work (we sat opposite each other) and have been together for 8 and 1/2 years. We got engaged in July 2016 at the Sky Garden (Walkie Talkie) in London. I had no idea that Daniel was going to propose however I now know that he had been planning it for some time. Actually even trying to propose the previous day at Boxhill overlooking the Surrey hills, however the weather conditions were not ideal and the view slowly disappeared into the rainy clouds. Actually Daniel had initially wanted to propose while we were away the week before while we were in Scotland however the ring was delayed in arriving due to a storm.

○ Why did you choose Blencowe Hall?

Blencowe Hall was one of only two venues we viewed, both owned by the same family. It’s everything we wanted our wedding to be. DIY so we got to plan everything ourselves, allows us to have a small and intimate day. It also gave us the opportunity to have our nearest and dearest stay with us for the weekend. Blencowe Hall is beautiful, with amazing views, allows us to have an outdoor ceremony (weather depending) and is close to the town where we met. It holds some great memories for us.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Relaxed and very much DIY with touches of us around the venue.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Walking down the aisle – Elbow: One Day Like This. First dance – The xx: Angels (the first band we got into together, one of the first bands we saw together and the one band we have seen multiple times)

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Getting married after being together for over 8 years. Seeing all our hard work coming together after 2 years of planning. Also celebrating our marriage with family and friends.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Relaxed, fun, memorable.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

It’s an opportunity to capture guests and the day through the eyes of someone at our wedding, rather than just having ‘staged’ group shots where people may feel awkward. Hopefully we’ll get lots of natural photos of people laughing and enjoying themselves.

○ Would you recommend having an engagement photoshoot? (Click to see theirs)!

Yes, it helped us know what to expect on the day, get used to having our photo taken and to build a rapport with Sasha.

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Try not to stress in the lead up to the wedding – people aren’t going notice if small things aren’t as you planned (i.e. the ribbons on the chairs don’t quite match your bridesmaid dresses).

○ Kind words:

Sasha photographed our wedding back in September and was happy to travel to Cumbria for our day. From the minute we first contacted Sasha she was professional whilst being friendly and down to earth. Any queries and questions we had were promptly answered by email.

We had an engagement shoot with Sasha in Sheffield a couple of months before our wedding. We would definitely recommend an engagement shoot as it helps you get to know Sasha, how she works and to feel comfortable with someone following you around taking photos! The time flew by and we instantly felt at ease with her.

On our wedding day Sasha arrived at the time agreed and instantly started ‘work’. It is only once we received our photos back that we realised how busy she’d been capturing our day. From our guests enjoying the sun in the garden in the morning, the ceremony space being set up and us getting ready, to the sun going down in the evening.

We are delighted with the photos we received from both our engagement shoot and our wedding day. Both sets of photos arrives promptly and in lovely boxes, with Sasha’s personal touches. Sasha captured our day perfectly and we have received so many comments from family and friends about how friendly she was and how she blended into the background (in a good way!). She was exactly the type of photographer we wanted to capture our day and meant that we received beautiful candid photos of both us and our guests. The photos have been viewed many times already by not only us but also our families and friends and we will fondly look back at them in the years to come as they are a perfect recollection of our day.

Thank you Sasha for capturing our day. We would have no hesitation in recommending you. Daniel & Aimee (Mr & Mrs Power 07.09.2019)
