○ What’s your love story?

We met 5 years ago through a dating app. Jess messaged Jake first, but Jake had only lowered his age settings days before – without making this change, Jess wouldn’t have been able to message him and we wouldn’t be here today!

○ Why did you choose Isla Gladstone Conservatory as your wedding venue?

We love the openness and all the light the conservatory lets in. Plus the bandstand reminds Jess of the gazebo from her favourite show Gilmore Girls.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Walking down the aisle to The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel – because it’s from Jake’s favourite show Scrubs. First dance to Reflecting Light by Sam Phillips – because it’s from Jess’s favourite show Gilmore Girls. We are big TV fans 🤣

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Being able to call each other husband and wife. And the tax benefits.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Fun, relaxed and romantic.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

It captures natural moments and tells a story rather than forcing poses.

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Jake said ‘You can’t marry Jess Shaw, she’s taken’ 😂

It’s true what they say about not being able to please everyone. Just do what you both want and try to not be influenced by other peoples opinions and demands.

If I had known how beautiful my photos were going to be, it would have saved me many hours scrolling through photographers, worrying if they’d show up, pricing up packages, hoping they’d get all the shots we wanted etc. Let me save you all of that time and effort – Sasha is your girl.

Right from the start Sasha was very thorough and communicative, always responding to messages quickly and professionally. On the wedding day, she turned up on time and got stuck in straight away. It’s true what many others have said, she is a genuine ninja – even our guests said the same thing as they had no idea many of the photos had been taken. Sasha was great at giving us cues, and she was super patient with our kids and group photos. She was even game to take a quick detour to our house to get some photos with our dog! Remember what I said about Sasha’s fantastic communication?

After a long, 10 hour day, she emailed us the same night to let us know that she had already started editing our photos. The VERY NEXT DAY, Sasha sent over to or so pictures from our wedding, photographed and edited to perfection. Not 3 weeks later, we received the full collection – over 1000 amazing images we laughed and cried at.

As a curvier bride, I was really, really worried that I wouldn’t like my wedding photos. I thought maybe I’d get one or two good ones. But no less than about 900 times did I say ‘That’s a great picture!/We need to frame this one!/I love that photo!’ etc. We got all of the posed family shots we asked for, all the standard photos of the cake/dress/flowers etc, as well as hundreds of amazing/hilarious/touching candids.

This is a woman who clearly takes an immense amount of pride in her work, and goes above and beyond for her clients. Not only is Sasha clearly so gifted at what she does, but she’s a genuinely lovely person too.
