Horton Grange Country House Wedding

Heather & Sean ♡ Horton Grange Country House Wedding

A look at Heather & Sean’s beautiful Horton Grange Country House wedding.

“Sasha’s work is absolutely beautiful. Looking through her galleries, it was exactly what we wanted for our wedding – dreamy, light and candid. Our wedding gallery is full of beautiful moments, many we didn’t realise were being captured – little details that frame our day perfectly!”

○ What’s your love story?

We met at Northumbria University through the Anime and Traditional Board Game societies in 2011, where Sean attempted to teach me Munchkin. We met a few more times in the student’s union and chatted on and off. We attended the same house party with friends where he asked me about cosplay and we hit things off 🙂 We were together for a long time before I got stubborn and decided to propose to him on Feb 29th 2020. Nothing I planned worked out, it was very awkward but he still said yes..! We planned to get married sooner, but the pandemic put a stop to that, so we decided to wait until the next leap year to finally get married.

○ Why did you choose Horton Grange Country House as your wedding venue?

We wanted a small but wholesome venue, something that didn’t look too rustic or too clean. Horton Grange fit that vibe really well! There’s enough space to stretch your legs but it doesn’t feel empty. The barn where the ceremony itself will be held is beautiful and the rest of the venue is bright with lots of windows for natural light. It’s also close to Newcastle and not too hard to get to by taxi if people don’t have cars.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Pretty, light and airy, the colour palette is soft green and pink with white. My dress is ivory and Sean’s suit is quartz pink.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Instrumentals from video games (Skies of Arcadia/Tales of) for the waiting music and aisle music, no specific song per se just pretty orchestral music The first dance is to Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper) going into Dead Ringer for Love by Meat Loaf and Cher (lol).

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Celebrating, seeing family and friends together (also the cake)!

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Fun, easy & emotional.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

I think natural photography captures a more genuine glimpse of people, rather than posed photos. It shows the angles, the laughter and the emotion that people have, the way that friends and family see them every day – rather than a selection of poses they choose to show us. A range of styles are great of course but I think natural photography really does show off the best of people in an ‘effortless’ way and it was the only choice for our wedding 🙂

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Planning a wedding sounds terrifying but once you decide what you would like from your day it is a much easier process than you think. Give yourself time and cut yourself some slack.

○ Kind words:

We booked Sasha for our wedding in February this year and are delighted with our photos! Sasha’s work is absolutely beautiful. Looking through her galleries, it was exactly what we wanted for our wedding – dreamy, light and candid. Our wedding gallery is full of beautiful moments, many we didn’t realise were being captured – little details that frame our day perfectly!

Sasha kept us informed throughout from our original inquiry to the day itself, and made sure anything we wanted to have captured would be. It’s easy to lose track of time on such a busy day but Sasha got all of the snaps we requested without taking too much time away from our guests (even our little fuzzy one!)

She also made sure everyone was comfortable when shooting group photos and gave direction when needed to make sure everyone was looking their best – smiling and laughing in the moment, even those who are camera-shy! We wanted natural, friendly photography. That is exactly what we got. We had a wonderful day and are so pleased Sasha was part of it.
