Suzy & Paul ♡ Blencowe Hall, The Rowley Estates, Lake District Wedding

Featuring Suzy & Paul’s gorgeous Blencowe Hall wedding in the Lake District.

Suzy and Paul’s big day started for me with a pleasant two and a half hour drive through the countryside from Sheffield to Blencowe Hall. This seriously stunning venue located right on the edge of the Lake District. The Grade I-listed manor house is truly historic, but what makes it so special is how it combines such dramatic grandeur with a modern twist. It’s the perfect setting for a wedding (and a photographer!).

When I arrived, I spent some time with the bride and groom’s family, who were helping to prepare the delicious buffet lunch. It felt really warm and homely being with Suzy and Paul’s nearest and dearest, and a lovely way to begin the day.

The ceremony itself took place in the grounds, with guests sitting on wooden benches to create an aisle for Suzy to walk down. She looked gorgeous in a classic, white lace dress, with her hair tied up in a loose bun. If I had to describe her look in one word it would be elegant. But you can see that for yourself!

Then there were drinks in the gardens, with beautiful views out onto rolling fields and the Eden Valley beyond. The atmosphere was chilled out and informal, with everyone enjoying themselves. People were playing games, including hula hoop, limbo and football. The funniest photo for me is the one of the guest looking like a member of secret service, wearing a black suit and sunglasses with his plastic bow and arrow. Very cool!

The wedding breakfast buffet was really relaxed. Afterwards, close family members made impromptu speeches around a small table, which was lovely. They spoke from the heart rather than having prepared something, and ones from the mothers were definitely the most touching. It’s intimate moments like these where I feel pretty lucky to do what I do.

I loved this wedding because it was a lovely, relaxed and chilled atmosphere, which suits my natural photography style. It honestly felt like everyone was part of one big family. My absolute favourite photo is the one where Suzy and Paul are laughing together, since it captures their sweet natures well, and the day perfectly.
