Ellie & Ollie ♡ Wood Lane Countryside Centre, Sheffield Wedding
A little look at Ellie & Ollie’s gorgeous Wood Lane Countryside Centre wedding in Sheffield.
“On the day itself Sasha was wonderful- at times you didn’t even realise she was there! But at the same time she got all our guests organised, and even helped decorate our cake! We will treasure the photos we got back. There are some moments we missed and Sasha captured every detail and happiness of the day.”
Ellie & Ollie’s wedding took place in April on a lovely bright & sunny day at Sheffield’s Wood Lane Countryside Centre. The happy couple moved to Sheffield from London 2 years ago, and said that “it immediately felt like home”, so when deciding on a wedding location they just knew that they wanted to get married in Sheffield. They chose Wood Lane Countryside Centre, as after looking around the place, “we knew it was the venue for us – the Grain Loft is a beautiful and intimate room, and the grounds are stunning.”
I met Ellie & Ollie at the venue, shortly before their ceremony was due to begin. Ollie was greeting guests and showing them to the ceremony room, while Ellie pulled up with her parents in the cutest vintage VW camper van. She made her way up to the Grain Loft and walked down the aisle to Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks, which was being played on guitar by one of their friends. It was a lovely and intimate ceremony, with a couple of short readings – Paths & Journeys and Foxtrot from a Play. After the exchanging of vows and first kiss, the happy couple walked back down the aisle, this time together, and got showered by guests with confetti along the way.
We took a little time out to walk around the gardens and by the pond, snapping some gorgeous bride & groom photos. Ellie wore a stunning & almost vintage-looking dress by Monsoon, topped off with pretty green & yellow flower crown. Ollie was suited up in a smart 3 piece by Moss Bros, and wore a thistle buttonhole to honour the Scottish side of his family. Both bride & groom matched their outfits by wearing a splash of yellow – Ellie’s shoes, and Ollie’s socks & tie – a really nice touch! 💛
After a few group photos, (including one big one with the whole wedding party gathered on the outdoor stairs!) Ollie & Ellie joined their guests for a relaxing drink and some garden games. The Grain Loft meanwhile, was being transformed by staff from ceremonial room to wedding breakfast area. Once finished it looked so super pretty! The table names were of the couple’s favourite Peak District walks. Ellie made loads of the decorations herself, which included moss letters of their initials and floral wreaths, and her mum made the bunting. In Ellie’s words, it was a ‘labour of love!’ The window ledges were filled with bottles upon bottles of daffodils, which was a nice touch since the wedding occurred the week after Easter.
After a yummy pie dinner came the speeches. The father of the bride’s speech was both touching and funny. Ollie’s best man’s speech was amusing too, as he laid into his pal. Ollie gave a super sweet speech, and something I always like to see, Ellie said a few words herself, (love it when the brides get in on this!) Shortly afterwards, everybody made their way outside Woodlane Countryside Centre, where the brass band Grumpah was waiting to play the first dance song, Stand by Me by Ben E King. Ellie & Ollie’s first gig together was a Ben E King one. They saw a couple dancing in the aisles to Stand by Me, who told told them a story. The song was their first dance song at their wedding and they’d been together for 50 years. I suppose it must have inspired Ellie & Ollie so much that they chose to follow suit, which I think it really sweet. Here’s to a happy 50+ years to this lovely couple too.
Notes from the happy couple:
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
“Getting married and celebrating the day with all of our family and friends!”
Why do you like natural wedding photography?
“We want to be able to look back at our wedding photos and see our friends & family looking relaxed and enjoying themselves – for moments we may have missed and moments we’ll cherish forever.”
Kind words:
We came across Sasha when we were looking at venues and saw a wedding where she had been the wedding photographer. Looking at her photos we knew Sasha was the wedding photographer for us! Just loved the natural, relaxed, dreamy style and that even the posed shots looked joyful and spontaneous.
We got very lucky as we won a competition Sasha ran to win an engagement shoot. We chose to go to Ecclesall Woods on an autumn day, and the time just flew by! Sasha made us feel really comfortable and accommodated our suggested shots. The engagement shoot filled us with confidence for the big day. All of the communication from Sasha leading up to the wedding day was so organised and thorough.
On the day itself Sasha was wonderful- at times you didn’t even realise she was there! But at the same time she got all our guests organised, and even helped decorate our cake! We will treasure the photos we got back. There are some moments we missed and Sasha captured every detail and happiness of the day.
Sasha is such a creative, friendly photographer. Thank you so much! x
