Sarah & Arran ♡ Holy Trinity Church & Portals Place, Hartlepool Wedding

Featuring Sarah & Arran’s gorgeous Holy Trinity Church & Portals Place wedding in Hartlepool.

“What Sasha does best is really capture the emotion of the day in a very real way, there’s no dramatic or over edited shots. People can look at her photos from the day and really feel what it was like. I gave her a few tips on what might come out in the speeches and she took note and as a result got some truly amazing (and funny) shots of peoples reactions. Overall, the photos we got were just perfect, they were everything I ever wanted and Sasha is just unbelievably talented. I can’t thank her enough!!”

Sarah and Arran have known each other since their school days, and got engaged January 2017. Their Hartlepool wedding took place in February 2018 at the Holy Trinity Church, followed by Portals Place, right by the English seaside.

It was a sunny yet super cold day when Sarah and Arran got hitched. Sarah looked stunning in a beautiful floor-length gown from Monsoon, topped with the most amazing real flower crown that was perched on her brown locks.

Poor Sarah was feeling pretty anxious before the ceremony, but it was lovely to see her nerves melt away as she met Arran at the church. The service was lovely, and the reading of Pablo Neruda Sonnet 17 seemed very personal to them.

After the ‘I dos’ we had the confetti throw, group photos and a drive to the beach and harbour for bride and groom pics. This was where the second venue, Portals Place, was. It’s a lovely intimate place overlooking the water, which made for a really nice, relaxed atmosphere.

The wedding breakfast room was decorated with a subtle seaside theme. Lots of mismatched bottles with flowers and wild foraged winter foliage, and candles in sand filled jars. After food, there were the speeches. The father of the groom was actually the best man too, so he knew loads about his son to give him a good grilling, which was really funny.

There was a strong cheese theme in the evening. The real cheese cake was ace – a tower of cheese wheels that Sarah made herself. The newlyweds did some balloon popping where they stamped on them to break out coins, something I’ve never seen before.

I loved the sparkler walk-through – this was heaps of fun. Everyone seemed to have a great time playing with the sparklers, and Sarah & Arran’s mixed emotions of fun and terror as they walked through their tipsy guests was brilliant 😆 The fun continued with the first dance (Seafret – Wildfire), live music and boogying right into the night.

Sarah and Arran’s wedding was a real pleasure to photograph, as they’re such as lovely couple. They’d wanted natural photography for the day because (in Sarah’s words): “it captures the natural emotion and feeling of the day – nothing is forced or staged (or very little) and the lighting seems light and airy. Its more representative of who you are as people, rather than staged dramatic poses.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Kind words:

Sasha photographed our wedding on the 25th February and I honestly can’t say enough good things about her. All of our guests commented on how lovely she was and how relaxed the photography was. I really wanted a natural photographer and Sasha got so many shots that are just unbelievable beautiful without them being posed.
