The West Mill Wedding, Derby ♡ Sam & Lizzie

Featuring Sam & Lizzie’s beautiful The West Mill wedding in Derby.

Lizzie and Sam got married at The West Mill, an industrial, rustic Derby wedding venue in March 2018.

The happy couple have been together almost six years, and got engaged on Lizzie’s birthday in 2016. On the day, they were looking forward to having all of their family and friends under one roof, and chose natural wedding photography to (in Lizzie’s words) ‘capture the “true” moments of the day’.

Their big day began with bridal prep at The West Mill, which is a gorgeous old mill that overlooks the Derwent river. The couple picked the venue because they wanted somewhere different from the norm, and immediately fell in love with the quirky, industrial feel.

Lizzie looked incredibly beautiful with a floor-length Beau Belles champagne coloured gown and sparkly killer heels. She walked down the aisle to ‘All of Me’ by John Legend into the stunning ceremony room. The backdrop was made up of hanging carnations, which was truly original and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before 🌸🌼🌸🌼

One of the most touching moments of the day was a reading from Lizzie’s stepdad about the true meaning of commitment, and her bridesmaids’ readings, which you could see meant a lot to her ❤ One of my favourite photos is of Lizzie & Sam fist bumping right after their ‘I dos’, because it is just so naturally them!

After the ceremony there was the confetti throw, group photos and drinks. Into the wedding breakfast room, and all the tables were decorated with centre pieces of copper pipe candle holders made by the Sam and his dad, with each one named after a different gin 🍸.

After the wedding breakfast there were speeches, more drinking and lots of dancing to the fab live band. They also had a photo booth, and one of the funniest moments of the day was seeing everyone larking around and trying on silly wigs and hats. It was really dynamic, very silly, and everyone had a good laugh.

Lizzie & Sam’s wedding was brilliant to photograph, as everyone was so funny. Their Irish side of the family were particularly amusing, and had all the guests and myself laughing with their awesome sense of humour 😝
