A look back at Hannah & Dai’s beautiful outdoor Deighton Lodge wedding in York.

The lovely Hannah & Dai got married on a sunny mid-July day at York wedding venue Deighton Lodge. Deighton Lodge is a beautiful rustic & rural venue set upon a farm, with a grand renovated barn, a spacious garden and cosy snugs dotted around the place. Hannah & Dai chose this venue for it’s “relaxed vibe” and because it can easily be personalised.

The day began for Hannah at home with her bridal party and little girl. Everyone got ready together, with lots of laughs amongst the cosy, homely environment. Hannah had her blonde hair tied back into an elegant up-do, finishing the look with a mid-length veil and sparkly earrings. Her floor-length wedding dress was stunning and unique, with a real boho chic feel to it. Her bridesmaids wore dresses that were individual to them, but stuck to a minty green and blue colour theme – love it! 💙💚

The outdoor ceremony took place in Deighton Lodge‘s garden, and it was a perfectly sunny & warm day for it. Even more perfect that Hannah walked down the aisle to The Beatles’ “Here comes the sun.” The ceremony was so sweet, and Hannah & Dai couldn’t stop smiling throughout. There were 2 readings from 2 family members, both of whom had written the readings themselves, which was a really nice touch.

After the ceremony and a little confetti sprinkling, guests relaxed in the sunny garden with a drink in hand. Hannah, Dai and myself took a walk over to the surrounding cornfields to capture some beautiful, romantic and airy bride & groom photos.

The Deighton Lodge barn had been decked out in beautiful creamy colours, with picnic baskets in the middle of the tables ready for the afternoon tea everyone was to enjoy. The whole atmosphere was very relaxed and informal, and had such a nice family-feel to it.

After enjoying the afternoon tea spread, everyone turned to Hannah’s dad, Dai and the best man for their speeches. A hilarious game had been prepared for after the speeches too. Basically, every seat had 2 little sticks with pictures of Hannah & Dai’s faces stuck on each one. The guests were standing, as one of the ushers read out “who is more likely to…” questions, and whoever got an answer wrong had to sit down. Last man/woman standing was the winner! It was pretty funny. Even funnier, two of the guests decided to go for an acapella sing-song on the mic afterwards, which was random but fun.

The evening’s dancing kicked off with live music being played by a band, complete with a sax player. The drinking, dancing and fun went well into the night, and was an awesome end to a wonderful day. 🌞
