Chloe & Tom ♡ Selby Abbey & Hazlewood Castle Wedding
A snippet of Chloe & Tom’s beautiful Selby Abbey & Hazlewood Castle wedding in Leeds.
“We picked Sasha as out wedding photographer as we loved how she could capture the moments throughout the day in a very natural way! The communication was excellent and Sasha is very calm and personable to be around. The photos came in a nice box with a really cute hand written letter, which I thought was a really nice touch. We are very happy with our photos and I would highly recommend Sasha to anyone.”
Chloe & Tom tied the knot in April at York’s Selby Abbey, before moving on to Hazlewood Castle. The morning kicked off with bridal preparations at home. Chloe, her mum and bridesmaids all bundled in for hair, makeup and outfit changes. It was a lovely and chilled-out morning, however with the occasional interruption from Chloe’s mischievous cat who kept walking all over everything, (including the MUA’s makeup palette! 😆)
The ceremony took place just south of York at the stunning Selby Abbey, a grand and historical church over 900 years old. Chloe & Tom chose this spot as they thought it had lots of character. It is a very peace and tranquil building, and made for a lovely atmosphere during the ceremony. After a Bible reading and another reading by one of the guests (an excerpt from ‘The Bridge Across Forever’ by Robert Bach), there was the exchanging of rings and first kiss, before everyone was led into another hymn. Chloe & Tom walked outside to a flurry of confetti thrown on to them by guests, before everyone gathered around for some group photographs outside the church doors.
The happy couple hopped into their vintage wedding car and set off towards Hazlewood Castle – a luxurious wedding venue tucked away in the outskirts of Leeds in Tadcaster. The rest of the day would take place in this stunning castle. Guests walked in to live music being placed by a 3 piece band, and everyone enjoyed having a relax and gin. There was even a ‘gin station’ where guests could pimp their drinks with fruits and different sorts of leaves – yum! One of the rooms smelt AMAZING, as it had been adorned by a cute doughnut wall – a total hit with the guests. 🍩🍩🍩
Chloe, Tom and I took a walk around the vast grounds of Hazlewood Castle, taking photos along the way. It was the perfect time of year for a pretty, pink backdrop, as the cherry blossom trees were just about fully in bloom! Gorgeous! 🌸 There was also a nice, secluded, woodland area where we were able to play about with some photos. Also where the newlyweds could take a breather away from the hustle & bustle of the castle.
Speeches soon began in the reception room, which had been decorated with sparkly sequin table runners and classy candelabras. There were some absolutely lovely moments, with a whole bunch of laugh-out-loud ones too. Afterwards the entire wedding party shuffled outside for a huge group photograph, which was followed by some lucky lady catching Chloe’s bouquet! This lucky lady was also kind enough to offer the bouquet to another singleton, which was super sweet.
When it came to cutting the cake, it was a pretty grand event as the newlyweds sliced it with an actual SWORD rather than a knife. The first dance was lovely, as Tom literally swept Chloe off of her feet as they danced together. The rest of the evening was filled with a full dance floor. Also lots of munching on slices of pizza 🍕 that the outdoor pizza van was churning out. Overall a super fun-filled day for this lovely couple.
Notes from the happy couple:
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
“Seeing everything come together, having family & friends together in one place and the pizza van & bands in the evening.”
Why do you like natural wedding photography?
“It’s not staged and you can catch moments you may not otherwise catch.”
