Rachael & Richard ♡ 99 Mary Street Wedding, Sheffield

A look at Rachael & Richard’s beautiful 99 Mary Street wedding.

“So here’s the thing. I wanted to get married, I wanted some lovely photos, but as an introvert I didn’t want to feel like the centre of attention. Sasha understood the brief perfectly and captured happy moments in a day that; at the time; I found so completely overwhelming. So for anyone who is worried that they won’t shine in front of a camera, book Sasha, and shine in front of a friend.”

○ What’s your love story?

We knew each other in school, we were one year apart, we had some overlapping friend groups but never really spoke. Reconnected years later and we’ve been together for nearly a decade now.

○ Why did you choose 99 Mary Street as your wedding venue?

We like the industrial look and it’s a nice intimate setting for a small wedding.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Relaxed, more of a party for our friends and family, just a sort of celebration. We’re not too focused on the formality of the occasion, just want to have fun!

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

For the aisle we’re having “You’re my best friend” by Queen, because the lyrics really say it all about us. For the first dance we’re having “Anti-gravity love song” by Incubus. They’re our favourite band and we wanted something a bit funky but still quite cool, we don’t want to do a slow dance and we want to get other people up pretty quickly!

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Seeing everyone together, dancing and having a party!

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Fun, natural and relaxed.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

(Richard) I can’t help but pull a goofy face if I see a camera, I absolutely hate posed photos because I feel so awkward, I’d rather not know it’s happening! Also, people’s natural expressions are so full of character and people interacting and having a good time is what the day is all about, not staring straight ahead!

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Plan for everything but remember that only you know the detail of it all, so if something doesn’t go right or go the way you expect, your guests will still experience a brilliant day. Just try and take the day for what it is, and not get too lost in the little things.

○ Kind words:

“So here’s the thing. I wanted to get married, I wanted some lovely photos, but as an introvert I didn’t want to feel like the centre of attention. Sasha understood the brief perfectly and captured happy moments in a day that; at the time; I found so completely overwhelming.
She made me (and my other half) feel so at ease, and although it was actually the first time we had ever met that’s not how it felt.

So for anyone who is worried that they won’t shine in front of a camera, book Sasha, and shine in front of a friend.”
