Aurelie & Chris ♡ Saint James Church Norton, Sheffield Wedding

A look at Chris & Aurelie’s beautiful Saint James Church Norton wedding in Sheffield.

“Can’t recommend Sasha enough, she photographed our October 10th wedding and made us feel at ease. She’s always been really responsive and communicated with us impeccably, even when had to change our wedding date due to current circumstances. Wouldn’t think of anyone better to photograph our future shots. Can’t recommend enough.”

○ What’s your love story?

We met in high school. I moved and enrolled in an international school. My English was horrendous at the time and I was lost on my first day of empty school corridors, no clue where I was going. Well little did I know the boy at the end of the corridor would help me find my class and become my best friend. A little romcom cliché isn’t it? Fast forward a couple years to our senior year, we started dating – this was 7 years ago now. We supported each other through the roller coaster of life. Went through university and got our first jobs.

Life as a young couple, growing and evolving was not always easy. That is something we always make clear to people, our relationship had ups and downs and we worked really hard to get here. But we’re both glad we did at least I think so. That brings us to December 15th 2019, a week after Rory’s birthday. The ring had been designed and made, sitting in Chris’ hiding spot for more than 3 months. He found the perfect way to ask. So here we are, 24th October 2020, I get to marry the love of my life and my best friend after 7 years.

○ Why did you choose St James Church as your wedding venue?

We chose our church because they were the most welcoming and encompassing of all religions, not only Christianity. Getting married in a place and by someone that values everybody’s morals and believes was paramount to us.

As for the Fox and Goose? We visited an endless stream of venues that all told us they tailor the day to each couple. However, we found that it wasn’t the case in most instances. But it was with the Fox and Goose. I was able to have the cake as dessert to uphold french tradition and our love of cake. But ultimately it was because (and bear with me, I haven’t found another way to describe this feeling) as soon as we walked in the venue it felt like home – it was warm and inviting, our souls felt like they were getting a hug. It just felt right.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

I think the overall vibe was enchanting, a lot of foliage and candles involved.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Our first dance will be to Bonfire Heart by James Blunt the acoustic version. The first time Chris and I hung out together we put music on and it was the first music that came on. It was so fitting to our life and holds a dear place in our hearts.

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Saying our vows. Promising every inch of ourselves to each other.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Meaningful, romantic, transcendent.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

Rory: It captures real emotions, without a persons’ ability to put a mask on that would be deemed acceptable by society.

Chris: It catches the real you, catch you laughing, joking, admiring you.

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Expect the unexpected! Jokes aside, we had to deal with a pandemic which did not make matters easier. However, I would say remember that it is your day. And make sure that you don’t stray too far from your original vision of your perfect day just to please others, you might regret it.

○ Kind words:

Can’t recommend Sasha enough, she photographed our October 10th wedding and made us feel at ease. She’s always been really responsive and communicated with us impeccably, even when had to change our wedding date due to current circumstances. Wouldn’t think of anyone better to photograph our future shots. Can’t recommend enough.
