Alex & Aishling’s Manchester Victoria Baths wedding was a beautiful celebration set within one of the city’s most iconic venues. From the historic tiled halls to the relaxed, joy-filled moments throughout the day, this wedding was a perfect blend of character, romance and timeless Manchester charm

○ What’s your love story?

We met while I was living with Alex’s best friend (Andrew, best man) in Newcastle. Andrew said his mate was coming to visit and we hit it off. Alex then came to “visit Andrew” every subsequent weekend thereafter. We will have been together for 10 years in October!

○ Why did you choose Manchester Victoria Baths as your wedding venue?

Alex’s family had a friend performing at show held at Victoria Baths, and we fell in love with it. We hadn’t gone to see other venues, we’re just really taken by the ides of making this piece of Manchester history our venue

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Hopefully not slapdash haha. We are doing a fair amount ourselves, like the bouquets and decor… Alex’s gran has made a beautiful cake with our National flowers made of sugar icing. I hope we manage to convey how much everyone in that room means to us and how happy we are to have them come celebrate with us. Hoping for a chilled vibe with big party atmosphere. Bit of an oxymoron but there we go

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Till kingdom come by Coldplay and everywhere by Fleetwood Mac respectively. Alex put til kingdom come on saying he thought I’d like it. He was right I loved it, and teared up listening to the lyrics and knew it was perfect. “Everywhere” felt appropriate Alex and I have done a fair amount of long distance in the ten years we’ve been together. Starting with Newcastle and Edinburgh, then Brighton and Edinburgh, then Manchester and Konstanz for a year! It’s been hard but we’ve always come back for each other and made sure we had the next visit to look forward to.

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Seeing all our loved ones together to celebrate us! Alex said cheese toasties.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Fun, joyous, disco.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

We love natural wedding photography because we want the day to be fun and relaxed, it feels like this style will match the mood on the day. I think it’s lovely to see those moments of unfiltered joy captured, it’s how I see Alex, and how I want to remember him on the day!

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Don’t think you are “too much”. I was told 8 bridesmaids was too many but ultimately hated the idea of leaving any of the women I’ve chosen out. They mean the world to me and I am so happy to have them by my side. I’d also advise to not be afraid of taking people up on their offers to help – everyone has been so kind and generous with their time and efforts to pull the day together. I think it will be a really special moment to see all the bits different people have contributed come together!

○ Would you recommend having an engagement photoshoot?

Yes 100%.
