Shaun & Louise ♡ Mansfield Registry Office Wedding

A look at Shaun & Louise’s beautiful Mansfield Registry Office wedding day.

○ What’s your love story?

We met in 2008 on a night out, and were introduced by our friends who were dating each other. We got chatting and got on so well straight away. Shaun and his friend walked myself and my friend home. Then we exchanged numbers and the rest is history!

Later that year we both went off to separate Universities. I went to Newcastle and Shaun to Sheffield. Neither of us had envisioned being in a long distance relationship but it worked and we continued to see each other every other weekend. After Uni, Shaun went to work in London and I did a masters in Birmingham so the long distance carried on until 2014 when we finally moved in together in Birmingham.

In 2017 we moved back to Nottingham where both our families are from. As a fantastic birthday surprise in 2018, Shaun treated me to my dream clubbing holiday in Ibiza. We had such an amazing time!

On the second night he told me he’d booked us as a meal at Cafe Mambo but when we got there we instead went on a private boat trip to watch the sunset. It was so romantic and Shaun got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was amazing and we had so much fun! The holiday got even better when the next night we ended up gatecrashing Tinie Tempah’s private after party. We bumped into Tinie at the bar where I excitedly showed him my engagement ring and he bought us a bottle of very expensive fizz to celebrate!

○ Why did you choose Mansfield Registry Office as your wedding venue?

Shaun and I originally planned to get married at the White Hart Inn at Moorwood Moor, Derbyshire. We loved everything about the venue and it looks like an amazing place to get married. Our wedding was planned for November 2019. However we were also hoping to have a baby, and knew if we were lucky enough to fall pregnant, we might end up postponing. Fortunately we did fall pregnant and our perfect son, George, was born in September 2019.

We moved the wedding back to September 2020. However, COVID then struck. The pandemic in addition to having a baby led us to reevaluate our values and our priorities in life. We decided that what was most important to us was to get married as soon as we could, in a low key way with just our immediate family there. Hence we booked Mansfield Registry Office. It has no affiliation to us at all and we chose it purely because it allowed the largest number of guests given the social distancing restrictions in comparison to all other registry offices in Nottinghamshire. We look forward to the venue becoming a special place for us!
