A look at Katie & James’s stunning St. Michael’s Chester Square & Mayfield Lavender wedding in London & Epsom.

Katie and James’ London wedding took place on a sunny day in August, 2017. The happy couple have been together 18 months, and got married in St. Michael’s Church, Westminster.

While Katie and the bridal party got ready in the morning around the corner from the church, James and his friends tucked into a fry-up at a greasy spoon cafe. Katie wore a gorgeous dress from a Ukrainian designer, Milla Nova. Her luscious red hair was lightly waved and finished off with a flower crown, the same as her bridesmaids. James wore a classic suit from Moss Bros, while all the groomsmen rocked tweed waistcoats, blue trousers and brown shoes.

The weather was super sunny all day, aside from a brief thunderstorm. Funnily, it began just as Katie stepped into the church, which was impeccable timing! She walked down the aisle to her brother-in-law playing Prelude in G major on the organ. The weather had cleared up in time for their confetti throw. Actually, it continued to be warm and sunny for the rest of the day!

After St. Michael’s Church, we travelled down to Epsom for the bride & groom’s photoshoot in a lavender field. Everything about it was beautiful – there were so many pops of colour to photograph, which I loved. Katie and James wanted natural photography for the textures and light quality, and these shots have ended up being some of my favourites – the newlyweds look so gorgeous.

The wedding reception was in another lavender field nearby. All the guests had fun taking photos of the rustic surroundings while enjoying drinks and lawn games outside. In the marquee, the tables had been named after different pubs that mean a lot to Katie and James, and were decorated with flowers, greenery and homemade, blue, frayed napkins.

One of my favourite memories was seeing Katie’s sister preparing the wedding cake just before everyone sat down for the breakfast. Meanwhile everyone enjoyed drinks inside the reception venue, as she was putting it together, arranging fruit and flowers on top with a dusting of icing sugar. In short, it looked amazing.

In particular, the speeches were so touching. Especially touching when the best man read out words from James’ brother, who is unable to talk. That was a very emotional moment for everyone. Afterwards Katie and James had their first dance to Elbow’s ‘We’re Away’ – one of James’ favourites.

As night fell, everyone danced into the night, on what was a very beautiful and special day.

I can’t even remember how I stumbled across Sasha website but so glad we did because our wedding photography is just so beautiful! She totally got the look I was going for, lots of natural light, dreamy and romantic while still super relaxed and casual. Sasha also got lovely shots of all the little details and basically the entire massive shot list I gave her. She also drove all the way down to London and to our two different location (or was it four?) and was completely happy and chilled out. Dream of a photographer! Well worth every penny!!
