As a wedding photographer, I get to travel throughout the UK & beyond capturing special days. However being a Yorkshire girl, it’s always a treat to work back in the homelands. There is a hugely eclectic mix of types of venues to choose from – alternative, rustic, romantic, outdoorsy, barn-like, seaside, and anything else you can think of. Many of them tucked away, like little secret gems. So I’d like to bring to your attention a small, beautiful bundle that you may never have heard of before. Here are 5 of my personal favourite alternative Yorkshire wedding venues.

Wood Lane Countryside Centre
Wood Lane Countryside Centre is a former farm house nestled within north Sheffield. It is run by a local conservation trust. This beautiful stone building has an intimate and warm feel, while in reality having lots of space within the several rooms, gardens and courtyard for guests to enjoy.

Deighton Lodge
Deighton Lodge is stunning venue within a rural area of York. If outdoor, garden ceremonies are your thing, this venue has a large, luscious garden overlooking vast crop fields. It also has a beautiful converted rustic barn, featuring distinctive spoked beams, bare brick walls and traditional stable doors. And if that wasn’t enough, there is also a farmhouse on the grounds which can accommodate up to 19 guests.

The Cove | Secret Seaview Chapel
The Cove, Secret Seaview Chapel in Robin Hood’s Bay really lives up to its name. Quietly tucked away within the heart of the cobbled alleys, you’ll easily miss this secret venue if you don’t already know about it. One of my all time personal favourites, The Cove is a gorgeous seaside wedding venue, with a stunning sea views.

Wold Top Brewery
Wold Top Brewery is situated high on the Yorkshire Wolds in Driffield, where the hills roll down to the North Sea. This beautiful & unique wedding venue is surrounded by 35 acres of picturesque crops. It has a wonderfully rustic feel to it, with plenty of space for guests to explore and enjoy.

The Old Deanery
The Old Deanery is a warm & intimate wedding venue based in the beautiful market town of Ripon, just off of the Yorkshire Dales. Sitting right next to picturesque Ripon Cathedral, this lovely venue is a perfect setting for a smaller wedding party. With several rooms to relax and enjoy drinks in together, there is also a beautiful, large back garden to explore.
