Bride & Groom walking hand in hand at their Kelham Island Museum wedding in Sheffield

Sam & Chandy ♡ Kelham Island Museum Wedding

Sam & Chandy’s Kelham Island Museum wedding was an unforgettable celebration set in one of Sheffield’s most iconic industrial venues. Filled with atmosphere, emotion, and beautifully honest moments, their day perfectly reflected both the history of the space and their story together.

○ What’s your love story?

We met on the first day of university because Sam’s flatmates took Chandy in as her flatmates weren’t very sociable. We became good friends over the next few months and Sam asked Chandy out couple of days before her birthday near the end of first year. We’ve been together ever since, living in Sheffield, Sam’s home in Frodsham, Hannover Germany and finally in Manchester over the last 14 years. We got engaged in a snowy town whilst in Germany in 2022 and got married in 2024 May in Salford. We’re finally having a wedding party now.

○ Why did you choose Kelham Island Museum as your wedding venue?

Chandy’s an engineer and we both love the engineering history of Sheffield. We met in Sheffield and spent most of the last 14 years living here and our favourite part is Kelham Island so the museum is a perfect fit.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Very chilled and relaxed. Not very traditional or formal. We want everyone to enjoy good food, good music and dance with their loved ones.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Strawberry fields to walk down the aisle to as it’s a beautiful song and we love the Beatles and spent many days and nights listening to them with our friends. First dance to This must be the place by Talking Heads as it’s also a lovely song that has a beautiful sentiment.

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Dancing with our friends and family,

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Chilled, Dancing, Laughter.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

We find staged photos very rigid and don’t represent the day properly. Natural photography is much more realistic of the vibe.

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

We’ve tried to keep the amount of tasks and efforts to a bare minimum as we’re not very organised so we probably shouldn’t give any advice haha.
