○ What’s your love story?

Our love story… 2020, the year of crazy, the year of a global pandemic, the year two old souls over lockdown became hiking buddies & best friends and unknowingly, unconditionally fell in love. We are aware 2020 was devastating for a lot of people but “every cloud has a silver lining” we believe they say. 2021 saw the UK’s 3rd lockdown, Hikerkarl proposed and made Wildginger his betrothed. What else do you need to know? Our love story has only just started. At last we are beginning chapter one, of a great story that nobody has yet read, and long may it continue, forever, each chapter better than the last. Please join us in the next chapter of our love story in 2022… (that was our love story on our invitations).

Karl’s version: 1. How and when did we meet? I met Lola in 2020 at Go Outdoors in Chesterfield. I was there looking for walking boots and she was trying on wooly bear hats 2. How and when did we get engaged? We got engaged on March 21st 2021 at Hardwick Hall the morning after my birthday celebrations. I’d already brought the ring December 2020 and was feeling nervous but I thought the time is right and got down on one knee. She said YES 🥰

Lola’s version: Met over lockdown in go outdoors Chesterfield and went for a little walk same day on Curbar edge. Karl proposed the morning after a very drunken night for his 33rd birthday celebrations (he doesn’t drink I might add, it was me that was hanging and very orange from out of date horrendous fake tan and manky nails – the photos of my hands we took were that bad i can only post them as black and white 🤣) I was shocked to learn he’d already had a ring for me for months. He chose good! Absolutely stunning 😍

○ Why did you choose Mosborough Hall as your wedding venue?

We looked at the closest venues to Lola’s in Derbyshire to help local businesses. We wanted it in Derbyshire too as that’s where we courted. However in 1967 the boarder changed so although back then Mosborough Hall was classed as Derbyshire territory it’s now classed as South Yorkshire. Lola grew up in Sheffield.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Woodland. Hiking. Peak District. Green. Gold. Nature. Love. Sparkle. Ivy. Outdoors.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to / first dance and why?

Aisle : Ilene Woods – so this is love. Bit of a princess song and all my life I’ve wanted to find love. And this is love ❤️ First dance: Englebert Humperdink – can’t take my eyes off you. We were dancing to it with my nannan (who has cancer) on new years day in her living room and she absolutely loves him. We love it too however Karl hates dancing 🤣🤣🤣🤣

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Karl: having a wife.

Lola: to be over with so I can relax and start enjoying married life. Organising a wedding has been a lot harder than I imagined. I just want to cuddle my man in my pj’s at 6pm which is my favouritest thing in the world.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Karl: love, sparkles, traditional values. Lola: pj’s, snuggles, food.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

Karl: sick of Instagram styled photos

Lola: I’m actually really nervous as I will see my true self. Karl loves me anyway I look but I’m only used to seeing myself in one pose. Big smile and arms in the air lol however it will be nice for a change and I hope it helps me learn to like myself more as Karl sees me.

○ Any advice for future brides & grooms planning their day?

Ask for help!!!! Accept help!!!!! Whatever your budget is, double it, but don’t over stretch trying to please everyone else. Really it would have been ideal for us to save a little while longer but we’re 35 this year, want to get married and try for a baby (apparently age limit for Ivf if we need help on NHS is 36 too) Karl: don’t make anything yourself. It takes 5 x as long and adds more stress
