A look at Jenn & Marcus’s small, sweet & intimate Sheffield Town Hall wedding.

○ What’s your love story?

Jenn: We met nearly five and half years ago on Tinder. I was new to online dating and realised Tinder may not be the best way to find what I was looking for. I was about to delete the app when I saw Marcus’s photo. I was drawn to his very kind face and lovely smile so I swiped right. We have so much in common and share the same values – I’ve never been happier! Marcus proposed with a ring sizer in my birthday card two years ago, I thought it was a cable tie and was very confused, until Marcus put the ring sizer on my wedding ring finger and asked me to marry him. He wanted me to pick my engagement ring myself so he could be sure I had something I really loved.

We are so happy to be getting married this year despite changes to what we had originally planned (due to Covid-19) – for us it’s all about being together with our closest friends and family (and streaming videos to loved ones in the USA).

Marcus: From our first date at the Wortley Arms I knew we had a lot in common. It took only a short period before I was convinced Jenn was right for me and I didn’t need to look any further. It is really quite uncanny how we see the world the same way, share many interests and share a similar sense of humour and empathise strongly with each other. There is rarely if ever any friction between us and we both ensure each others needs are met and are happy to do so. We have similar visions for the rest of our lives and I’m sure we’ll be happy together as we move through it.

○ Why did you choose Sheffield Town Hall as your wedding venue?

We had always planned a registry wedding (legal bit) the day before our originally planned Humanist wedding. With the Humanist celebration cancelled due to Covid-19, we decided to make our registry wedding the main event. As I’m a US citizen, we had a choice of either the Leeds or Sheffield registry offices. I work across the street from Sheffield Town Hall and Marcus is from Sheffield. We have a lot of friends and family in Sheffield, so it’s convenient for them to attend. I love the idea of seeing our wedding venue each day I’m in the office.

○ What is the style/theme/vibe of your wedding?

Relaxed celebration of happiness.

○ What music are you walking down the aisle to?

An instrumental version of Tame Impala’s Make it Happen (background music for the ceremony). We love this song and discovered it together, so it seemed appropriate for background music while still reflecting our personalities. We had been creating a playlist for the wedding for the past 2 years (although the reception has been cancelled)

○ What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Being married.

○ Describe your ideal wedding day in 3 words:

Everyone happy together.

○ Why do you like natural wedding photography?

Because we’re both natural introverts and don’t like being the centre of attention, but we love Sasha’s style and want authentic memories of our special day
