Emma and Andy’s wedding took place in March 2017 at Coniston Hotel & Spa, Skipton. This romantic venue is set in 1,400 acres of stunning scenery overlooking a lake, perfectly situated in the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales.
Although for the most part of the day the weather was windy and rainy, nobody really cared at all! Emma wasn’t phased in the slightest, which is such a great attitude to have. Rain on a wedding day honestly doesn’t need to be the be all and end all 😁 She got ready in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids, looking beautiful in a classic white lace dress, with her hair drawn back into an elegant bun.
The couple said their vows in a stunning barn-style room, with oak beams and exposed stone walls. One of the most touching moments of the day was noticing Emma welling up slightly during the vows. Later on, one of the funniest was the best man’s speech, especially him giving Andy a maid’s outfit at the end (apparently Andy is big on cleaning – where do you find such a man?! Haha).
After the wedding breakfast, the weather calmed down and was lovely and clear just in time for sundown. We took the opportunity to take some photos outside – one of my favourite ones is the confetti shot! I love the organic happiness in the picture, with the beautiful lake background.
The evening was great fun too, especially the bridal party doing the choreographed routine they learned on Emma’s hen do. The bridesmaids and a few other guests went to ‘trash’ the bridal suite and asked if I’d like to come and take photos. It’s tradition among their group of friends, apparently, and was pretty hilarious.
Emma and Andy’s wedding was elegant, loving and heartfelt, and one of my most favourite to shoot so far. Everyone was really kind and fun: it was a real pleasure to be part of.
